Sri Govardhana Puja, go puja, parikrama festival…30.10.2016

Dear Devotees,

PLs accept our humble obeisances. All glories to Srila Prabhupada!
We are very happy to invite you for a wonderful festival of Sri Govardhana Puja and Go puja on Sunday the 30th. Pls remember that your clock will go back 1h so that there is no confusion on Sunday.
We will be blessed by the association of many devotees, mother cow, Srila Prabhupada, whom we want to please by fulfilling his desire to go around the Govardhana hill Parikrama and Giri Govardhan Himself!!!

FROM TKG diary – an inspiration for Parikrama
“One of Srila Prabhupada’s last yearning desires was to go on parikrama around Govardhana Hill.  Because we wanted to fulfill that desire and because we were feeling separation from our beloved Guru Maharaja, we decided to take him to Govardhana.  We selected the date of Gopastami, when Krsna comes of age as a cowherd boy, on November 18.
On that morning after mangala-arati, all the devotees took prasadam of puri,  halva and sabji.  In buses and vans, we then set out, with Prabhupada present in his arca-vigraha form and in a large photograph.  We placed the deity of Srila Prabhupada in the back seat of his car, between Upendra and myself.  In the front were Bhavananda Swami,  Acyutananda Swami, and our devotee driver.
We went first to Radha-kunda, because Srila Prabhupada had said, when he was unable to go, “You bathe on my behalf!”  Now, he bathed personally to our great happiness.  Acyutananda performed the abhiseka ceremony.  The golden form of Srila Prabhupada was then lowered into the cool water of Radha-kunda.  Three times he bathed, as we looked on his golden body through the water.  The ceremony was being held on the thin strip of land between the two kundas.
Next, Jayapataka Swami carried Prabhupada upon his head and bathed him three times in Syama-kunda.  He was dried and dressed in new silk cloth, placed upon his palanquin, and offered full arati, the devotees chanting, “Jaya Srila Prabhupada.”  Accompanied by kirtana, we circumambulated those two most holy lakes.
We boarded our vehicles and proceeded to Govardhana, where we assembled and in procession proceeded with Srila Prabhupada aboard his palanquin, which had been wonderfully decorated.  How beautiful the land of Govardhana is, with its trees and grasses!  Prabhupada has ascended to Goloka; and now by his causeless mercy, we felt as if we too had been allowed to enter that transcendental realm.
As we circumambulated the mountain, no longer did our hearts burn from separation.  We were with Prabhupada again.  We were so glad to see him riding again on his palanquin, leading us as always, giving us shelter.  It was a cool day, and our walking created dust, the whole atmosphere becoming filled with dust.  We could only remember Krsna, coming home from tending the cows.
We came to Govinda-kunda, where Madhavendra Puri had found Gopala and Indra had given abhiseka to Krsna.  There we stopped and heard The Nectar of Instruction, verses nine to eleven.  Some of the sacred water of the kunda we sprinkled on Prabhupada’s head, and he was cooled and refreshed.
As we proceeded, our talks were all of Prabhupada.  We remembered his pastimes and recounted his unlimited glories.  We especially remembered the past two weeks, which had been so sweet.  We took pleasure understanding how the past months were given by Prabhupada for deepening our love, and for no other purpose.  He simply lay on his bed, week after week, with no other purpose than to attract us.  How merciful he acted toward us!  As we wound around the hill, the path was uneven; and we reflected that Srila Prabhupada could have made this journey only in his present eternal form.  Though we walked for three hours, the eight miles passed easily.
We again rode to Kusuma-kunja, where we refreshed ourselves in the bathing ghat.  Prabhupada having been placed high in a covered garden house, all the devotees took pleasure sporting in the water.
We divided into two groups, Satsvarupa Maharaja speaking in one and Acyutananda Maharaja in the other, recounting the glorious activities of Prabhupada in the early days in New York.  At 5:30 p.m., we all sat down and enjoyed a most transcendental feast, eating to our full satisfaction.
We proceeded back to Vrndavana, back to home, with Prabhupada, weary as we rode in our car.  It had been a wonderful outing, because Prabhupada had been present.
Srila Prabhupada lives with those who live to fulfill his desires.  We take shelter beneath the lotus feet of our beloved Guru Maharaja, whom we eternally serve.”

Panihati Cida Dahi Festival with HH Bhakti Brihad Bhagavat Swami 18.06.2016

Dear Devotees,

Hare Krishna,

We are going to have a great festivew time in June with HH Bhakti Brihad Bhagavat swami, with a lot of kirtan, krishna katha from Caitanya Caritamrita and a 64 rounds japa day as well. And the day of the festival will be great joy, with prikrama around the island, bull cart, Kirtan and painting the pots by our lovely kids… Below the poster you will find a description of the festival…

Panihati Cida Dahi Utsava

The Chida-dadhi Mahotsav, also known as the Chipped Rice Festival of
Panihati, is a yearly celebration of the pastimes of Srila Raghunatha dasa
Goswami and Lord Nityananda Prabhu. Chida-dadhi Mahotsav remembers how the
Lord mercifully reciprocated with His devotees by arranging, through
Nityananda Prabhu and Raghunatha dasa, to provide an ecstatic feast of
yoghurt and chipped rice, along with various other nectar foodstuffs. Below
is an excerpt from Caitanya- caritamrta, Antya lila chapter 6, which
describes this wonderful pastime.

The chipped rice festival – Cool yoghurt (dadhi) and chipped rice
(chida) were offered with sugar, bananas, milk sweets and cakes.

Our feast menu begins with Ganges Curd Upma, a moist and delicious
preparation of vegetables and grain. Before offering, a flavorful stream of
yoghurt is poured around the base of the Upma, in honor of the festival
goers who had to stand in the Ganges to enjoy their prasadam because there
was no room left on the river banks.

A light and simple Cracked Urad Dal is offered, with a side of Banana
Chapatis drenched in Orange Cardamom Butter. A sumptuously rich Cauliflower
& Red Pepper Sabji is simple to make, and brings smiles to the devotees.

A dry curry of Peas and Paneer is stuffed in a hollow Lemon, which adds nice
flavor to the preparation. Rava Idli is a savory cake that goes nicely with
the Aloo Kerala Fry, a spicy fried patty of potato and bitter melon.

Nestled amongst the whites of rice and yoghurt is a delightful Stuffed White
Baby Eggplant which is filled with spiced almond butter, then wrapped
together with lemongrass and baked.

Another pungent savory is the Baigan Sarson, a treat of diced eggplant
wrapped in mustard greens, then crispy fried in ghee. Roasted Okra Raita
provides a smooth and mellow touch with the spicy dishes, while the Rhubard
& Dried Cherry Chutney adds a tangy flavor to the Idli and savouries.

The nectar preparations from the original Chida-dadhi festival are, we hope,
faithfully represented by Chida-dadhi Pots. These two wonderful sweet rices
are served in traditional clay bowls. In one pot, chipped rice is prepared
in sweet yoghurt with bananas, while the second pot contains rice in a
sweet, thick kheer with ghee, bananas and camphor.

A milksweet cake, the Gunja-Mala Malpoori is encircled with fresh red and
black berries, reminiscent of the garland Lord Caitanya Mahaprabhu gave
Raghunatha das to wear around his neck.

The feast is complete with a tart Lime Cooler blending honey, ginger and
anise that would surely please all those sitting in the Panihati sun, on the
banks of Ganga-Ma.

Raghunatha dasa brought chipped rice, yogurt, milk. sweetmeats, sugar,
bananas and ether eatables and placed them all around. As soon as they heard
that a festival was going to be held, all kinds of brahmanas and other
gentlemen began to arrive. Thus there were innumerable people. Seeing the
crowd increasing, Raghunatha dasa arranged to get more eatables from other
villages. He also brought two to four hundred large, round pots. He also
obtained five or seven especially large earthen pots, and in these pots a
brahmana began soaking chipped rice for the satisfaction of Lard Nityananda.

In one place, chipped rice was soaked in hot milk in each of the large pots.
then half the rice was mixed with yogurt, sugar and bananas. The other half
was mixed with condensed milk and a special type of banana known as canpa-
kala. Then sugar, clarified butter and camphor were added. After Nityananda
Prabhu had changed His cloth far a new one and sat on a raised platform, the
brahmana brought before Him the seven huge pots.

Hearing about the festival, all kinds of learned scholars, brahmanas and
priests went there, Lord Nityananda Prabhu honored them and made them sit on
the raised platform with Him. Everyone was offered two earthen pots. In one
was put chipped rice with condensed milk and in the ether chipped rice with
yogurt. All the other People sat in groups around the platform. No one could
count how many people there were. Each and every one of them was supplied
two earthen pots, one of chipped rice soaked in yogurt and the other of
chipped rice soaked in condensed milk.

Some of the brahmanas, not having gotten a place on the platform, went to
the bank of the Ganges with their two earthen pots and soaked their chipped
rice there. Others, who could not get a place even on the bank of the
Ganges, got down into the water and began eating their two kinds of chipped
rice. Thus some sat on the platform ,some at the base of the platform, and
some on the bank of the Ganges, and they were all supplied two pots each by
the twenty men who distributed the food.

When chipped rice had been served to everyone, Lord Nityananda Prabhu, in
meditation, brought Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu. When Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu
arrived, Lord Nityananda Prabhu stood up. They then saw how the others were
enjoying the chipped rice with yogurt and condensed milk. From each and
every pot, Lord Nityananda Prabhu took one morsel of chipped rice and pushed
it into the mouth of Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu as a joke. In this way Lord
Nityananda was walking through all the groups of eaters, and all the
Vaisnavas standing there were seeing the fun.

No one could understand what Nityananda Prabhu was doing as He walked about.
Some, however, who were very fortunate, could see that Lord Sri Caitanya
Mahaprabhu was also present. Then Nityananda Prabhu smiled and sat down. On
His right side He kept four pots of chipped rice that had not been made from
boiled paddy. Lord Nityananda offered Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu a place and
had Him sit dawn. Then together the two brothers began eating chipped rice.
Seeing Cord Caitanya Mahaprabhu eating with Him, Lord Nityananda Prabhu
became very happy and exhibited varieties of ecstatic love. Lord Nityananda
Prabhu ordered, “All of you eat, chanting the holy name of Hari. Immediately
the holy names “Hari Hari” resounded, filling the entire universe.

When all the Vaisnavas were chanting the holy names “Hari Hari” and eating,
they remembered how Krsna and Balarama ate with their companions, the
cowherd boys, on the bank of the Yamuna. Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu and Lord
Nityananda Prabhu are extremely merciful and liberal. It was Raghunatha
dasa’s good fortune that They accepted all these dealings. Who can
understand the influence and mercy of Lord Nityananda Prabhu? He is so
powerful that He induced Lord Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu to come eat chipped
rice on the bank of the Ganges. All the confidential devotees who were
Cowherd boys, headed by Sri Ramadas, were absorbed in ecstatic love. They
thought the bank of the Ganges to be the bank of the Yamuna.

After receiving the remnants of food left by Lord Nityananda Prabhu,
Raghunatha dasa, who was greatly happy, ate some and distributed the rest
among his own associates. Thus have I described the pastimes of Lord
Nityananda Prabhu in relation to the celebrated festival of chipped rice and

Due to His causeless mercy upon all living entities within the universe, the Supreme Personality of Godhead, along with His plenary extensions, appeared in the family of Maharaja Iksvaku as the Lord of His internal potency, Sita. Under the order of His father, Maharaja Dasaratha, He entered the forest and lived there for considerable years with His wife and younger brother. Ravana, who was very materially powerful, with ten heads on his shoulders, committed a great offense against Him and was thus ultimately vanquished.
Lord Rama is the Supreme Personality of Godhead, and His brothers, namely Bharata, Laksmana and Satrughna, are His plenary expansions. All four brothers are visnu-tattva and were never ordinary human beings. There are many unscrupulous and ignorant commentators on Ramayana who present the younger brothers of Lord Ramacandra as ordinary living entities. But here in the Srimad-Bhagavatam, the most authentic scripture on the science of Godhead, it is clearly stated that His brothers were His plenary expansions. Originally Lord Ramacandra is the incarnation of Vasudeva, Laksmana is the incarnation of Sankarsana, Bharata is the incarnation of Pradyumna, and Satrughna is the incarnation of Aniruddha, expansions of the Personality of Godhead. Laksmiji Sita is the internal potency of the Lord and is neither an ordinary woman nor the external potency incarnation of Durga. Durga is the external potency of the Lord, and she is associated with Lord Siva.
As stated in the Bhagavad-gita (4.7), the Lord appears when there are discrepancies in the discharge of factual religion. Lord Ramacandra also appeared under the same circumstances, accompanied by His brothers, who are expansions of the Lord’s internal potency, and by Laksmiji Sitadevi.
Lord Ramacandra was ordered by His father, Maharaja Dasaratha, to leave home for the forest under awkward circumstances, and the Lord, as the ideal son of His father, carried out the order, even on the occasion of His being declared the King of Ayodhya. One of His younger brothers, Laksmanaji, desired to go with Him, and so also His eternal wife, Sitaji, desired to go with Him. The Lord agreed to both of them, and all together they entered the Dandakaranya Forest, to live there for fourteen years. During their stay in the forest, there was some quarrel between Ramacandra and Ravana, and the latter kidnapped the Lord’s wife, Sita. The quarrel ended in the vanquishing of the greatly powerful Ravana, along with all his kingdom and family.
Sita is Laksmiji, or the goddess of fortune, but she is never to be enjoyed by any living being. She is meant for being worshiped by the living being along with her husband, Sri Ramacandra. A materialistic man like Ravana does not understand this great truth, but on the contrary he wants to snatch Sitadevi from the custody of Rama and thus incurs great miseries. The materialists, who are after opulence and material prosperity, may take lessons from the Ramayana that the policy of exploiting the nature of the Lord without acknowledging the supremacy of the Supreme Lord is the policy of Ravana. Ravana was very advanced materially, so much so that he turned his kingdom, Lanka, into pure gold, or full material wealth. But because he did not recognize the supremacy of Lord Ramacandra and defied Him by stealing His wife, Sita, Ravana was killed, and all his opulence and power were destroyed.
Lord Ramacandra is a full incarnation with six opulences in full, and He is therefore mentioned in this verse as kalesah, or master of all opulence.

Sunday Festival 27.03.2016

Dear Devotees and friends, Hare Krishna, Pls accept my humble obeisances at your feet. All glories to Srila Prabhupada!

The Sunday 27th is yet another great opportunity to come and glorify the Supreme Personality of Godhead, Sri Krishna Caitanya Mahaprabhu, who came to deliver the whole world from the darkness of this age of kali…

This is for all of those devotees who due to circumstances cannot come on Wednesday and also for those who feel: “one day is not enough”, which I think all of you do anyway…

The schedule is full of bliss. In the morning the Supreme Lord, who is the ocean of kindness will go for parikarama at Geaglum, where His sweet devotees will meet him with offerings of love, prepared beforehand. All devotees from other places are aalso welcome to come for this occasion with some nice offerings.

When the Lord comes out on the procession, He is so kind, that He accepts all offerings without considering any dicrepancies, thus everyone can come and offer Him something cooked with love…

For those who would not know how to do it, it is simple… You can just come in front of the Lord, wave the offering in front of Him, pay the obeisances and join sankirtan and then continue to the program in the temple, which will have more of transcendental activities, which you can see in the schedule…

Lord Gauranga is coming! and calling you!!! 23.03.2016

Dear Devotees and friends,

we would like to cordially invite you for celebrations of the divine appearance day of Lord Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu, our saviour from the miseries of this dark age of Kali Yuga, age of quarrel and hypocricy…

The divine gift of Lord Caitanya is simply chanting of the Holy Name, the only medicine for the time of Kali Yuga, the medicine everyone can take. Let us all unite in chanting the names of the Lord

we will also have a harinam the day before in Enniskillen at 11.00am!

“Lord Caitanya Mahaprabhu should therefore not be considered one of us. He is Krsna Himself, the supreme living entity, and as such He never comes under the cloud of maya. Krsna, His expansions and even His higher devotees never fall into the clutches of illusion. Lord Caitanya came to earth simply to preach krsna-bhakti, love of Krsna. In other words, He is Lord Krsna Himself teaching the living entities the proper way to approach Krsna. He is like a teacher who, seeing a student doing poorly, takes up a pencil and writes, saying, “Do it like this: A, B, C.” From this one should not foolishly think that the teacher is learning his ABC’s. Similarly, although Lord Caitanya appears in the guise of a devotee, we should not foolishly think He is an ordinary human being; we should always remember that Lord Caitanya is Krsna (God) Himself teaching us how to become Krsna conscious, and we must study Him in that light.” (ADI LILA – INTRO by His Divine Grace A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami)

Lord Nityananda is coming! 20.02.2016 SATURDAY!

Teachings to the Mind

The lotus feet of Lord Nityananda are a shelter where one will get the soothing moonlight not only of one, but of millions of moons. If the world wants to have real peace, it should take shelter of Lord Nityananda. Unless one takes shelter under the shade of the lotus feet of Lord Nityananda, it will be very difficult for him to approach Radha-Krsna. If one actually wants to enter into the dancing party of Radha-Krsna, he must firmly catch hold of the lotus feet of Lord Nityananda.
Anyone who has not established his relationship with Nityananda Prabhu is understood to have spoiled his valuable human birth. Such a human being is actually an uncontrollable animal. Because he never uttered the holy name of Nityananda, he has become merged into so-called material happiness. What can his useless education and family tradition do to help him?
Being maddened after false prestige and identification with the body, one is thinking, Oh, what is Nityananda? What can He do for me? I don’t care. The result is that he is accepting something false to be truth. If you actually want to approach the association of Radha-Krsna, you must first achieve the mercy of Lord Nityananda. When He is merciful toward you, then you will be able to approach Radha-Krsna. Therefore you should firmly grasp the lotus feet of Lord Nityananda.
The lotus feet of Nityananda are not illusion; they are a fact. One who engages in the transcendental loving service of Nityananda is also transcendental. Always try to catch the lotus feet of Lord Nityananda. This Narottama dasa is very unhappy, therefore I am praying to Lord Nityananda to make me happy. My dear Lord, please keep me close to Your lotus feet.
